According to the NY Daily News, the much talked about jailhouse nuptials between rappers Remy Ma and

Papoose was cancelled after Papoose tried to smuggle in...wait for it...handcuff keys. Check out the report:

"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," a correction official told the Daily News.

"The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use," the official said.

Now the 29-year-old Brooklyn-born Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - won't be able to see his fiancée until November.

"The visitor was sanctioned by not being able to visit Rikers Island again for six months," the official said. "He was asked to leave."

So was Papoose trying to break out his rap queen, whose real name is Remy Smith, from the joint?

Neither his or her camp were saying - but Remy has every reason to be eager to get cut loose.

The 26-year-old Terror Squad rap princess faces up to 25 years at today's sentencing for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach last July outside a Meatpacking District club.

Papoose was not charged after he voluntarily surrendered the key to authorities.

He was quickly ushered out of the jail and never got to enter the prison island's Rose M.
Singer chapel in which the two were set to say their "I do's."

I'm falling over myself here LOL. I mean, what the...

*Update: Remy Ma's sentence was also handed down today:

Remy Ma has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub

The state Supreme Court sentence was handed Tuesday to the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.

Remy Ma, who could have faced up to 25 years in prison, was teary-eyed as she heard the sentence.

She says last summer's shooting was an accident; an appeal is planned.

Correction officials say they called off her weekend wedding at the Rikers Island jail after the groom — fellow rapper Papoose — showed up with a handcuff key.

Remy Ma's lawyer, Ivan Fisher, denies the key could be used to unlock handcuffs. Papoose isn't charged.

    Fisher says the two still plan to wed. {Source}

    Teen Prom Dress

Another case of inappropriate attire for the youngins. 17 year old Marche Taylor unsuccessfully tried to hit up her prom in full hoochie-mode this weekend:

“Instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended in a confrontation with school officials and her being escorted out in handcuffs. All because school officials said her dress was inappropriate for the school prom.”

They arrested the wrong person. Her folks should’ve been locked up for letting her walk out looking like a damned two-dollar hussy. Trifling.

  • **AALIYAH**

This year’s “Icon Issue” from The Fader Magazine pays homage to the late Aaliyah with remembrances and contributions from family, friends, and industry peers.

“It only took Aaliyah a few albums to make an indelible mark on the world of pop music, but today her influence can be felt across numerous genres,” said Chris Richards, Executive Editor of The FADER. “This issue not only tracks that influence, but also offers a more personal glimpse into the life of a true pop visionary.”

Issue 54 of The Fader will be available via iTunes in its entirety, with corresponding audio podcasts, and as a free download at thefader.com. Be on the look-out for it on news stands as well. Follow the break for quotes from inside of the issue.
Missy Elliott: “We was gonna save the world. We was gonna change music every chance we got. We was gonna always be family. Forever.”

Mark Ronson: “If it wasn’t for Aaliyah being the face and voice of [Missy Elliott and Timbaland's] sound they might have never got to where they did. They were presenting their sort of brilliant but challenging breakthrough music through this beautiful young girl who could sing it perfectly.”

Kidada Jones: “I think about her all the time…Anytime she’s brought up or her music comes on the radio, it’s sweet, but it definitely sounds like she found a niche before it was here. If you listen to her music it’s so relevant today, but we had it so long ago.”

Damon Dash: “She was already a fashion icon, she was getting into movies, she had already planted that seed. If she was alive today she would be so relevant. I see little bits of her everywhere I look, in a lot of artists.”

Jomo Hankerson: “I think a lot of that mysteriousness they talk about was just what she was. She seemed like she came here already grown up, from the beginning.”

Cassie - '2 The Morning' Bad Boy's Cassie is currently readying her still-untitled sophomore LP for a September release. In the meanwhile, another cut from the set has surfaced - the Bryan Michael Cox produced '2 The Morning'. I'll be honest in saying that I greet much of Cassie's material with a lot of scepticism (for obvious reasons), however I'm really feeling this. B. Cox switched it up from his trademark 'crunk ballad', delivering a sure-fire club banger in the process; and, let's face it, a Cassie track is only as good as its beat.

Rapper Nelly co-headlined the 2nd day of the BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. During his set he was joined by Kelly Rowland to perform their smash 'Dilemma'. Check out their performance below:

Granted Nelly forgot some of the words (which they convincingly played down), I liked the performance - the crowd seemed to as well.

Cherish - 'I Ain't Trippin''I Ain't Trippin' is a cut from Cherish's solid sophomore 'The Truth', due this coming Tuesday (May 13th). Produced by Tricky Stewart, the song, with it's club-driven beat and the girls' tightflow, is defnitely a winner IMO.

New Song: Michelle Williams - 'We Break The Dawn' (Remix) (ft. Flo-Rida)

Michelle Williams - 'We Break The Dawn' (Remix) (ft. Flo-Rida) Check out this new remix of Michelle Williams' single 'We Break The Dawn', featuring rapper Flo-Rida. I'm really liking this; the more Urban-inspired beat knocks, while still complimenting the song's overall flow.

In other Michelle news, starting tomorrow you can log on to Music.AOL.Com and go to the sections marked the Boom Box & Popeater to see exclusive making the video footage from Michelle’s shoot all leading up to the AOL May 15th premiere of the 'We Break the Dawn' video

With the June 3rd release of Ashanti's 'Declaration' fast approaching, a snippet of a track set to feature on the LP titled 'Mother' has surfaced. Dedicated to her mother Tina, check out Ashanti recording the song in the studio:

  • **HANCOCK**

Will Smith that we all know and love from 'The Fresh Prince' doing big things in Hollywood these days. Judging by this trailer, the 39 year old actor's latest effort, superhero flick 'Hancock', looks to be winner. The action-packed movie is set to hit theatres on July 1st.
